CenturyLink has begun rolling out its Quantum Fiber product in metro Denver. This new internet service uses fiber optic networks to deliver up to eight gigabits per second in upload and download speeds. This is nearly 40 times faster than most consumer broadband networks. The company’s plan has no contracts and costs $65 per month for almost one gigabit of speed. The company also offers a lower-cost option that offers just 200 megabytes of data. With the new service, CenturyLink has taken a step toward overcoming the problems it has had in the past with its spotty internet service.
The company plans to maintain the CenturyLink brand for legacy copper services and for existing FTTH customers. However, it will introduce the Quantum Fiber brand for SMB and enterprise services. Once this switchover is complete, Lumen plans to roll out Quantum Fiber to additional markets.

Lumen recently won a $137 million contract with the US Customs and Border Protection. In addition, it has secured a $1.6 billion contract with the Department of Interior and $1.2 billion with the Department of Agriculture.
